ARCI GFA and EMERGENCY RESPONSE PROJECT UNDER UN-WFP

 

Key Indicators

Enhance Food Security:
Deliver timely and adequate food assistance to reduce food insecurity among vulnerable communities.

Enhance overall resilience through nutrition support, awareness sessions, and community-based mechanisms.

Components: General Food Assistance (GFA) + Emergency Respons

 

Beneficiaries’ Ration Size


Cash Assistance:

2,900 AFN per household


In-Kind Food Assistance:


Beneficiary households receive a standard food basket consisting of:

  • Wheat Flour : 100kg
  • Pulses   :  12.5 kg
  • Cooking Oil : 9.1 L
  • Iodized Salt : 1 kg  
  • LNS   :  1.5 KG 
  • WSB  : 3  KG


Expected Outcomes

This project aims to enhance food security and nutrition among vulnerable households by combining cash-based transfers with in-kind food assistance. Regular food support will help families meet their essential dietary needs, reducing hunger and malnutrition.

The addition of an Emergency Response component ensures quick and effective support during sudden crises such as floods, conflict, or displacement. Immediate food or cash assistance prevents harmful coping strategies and stabilizes affected families.

Over the course of the 12-month implementation period, the project will enhance household resilience, encourage sustainable practices, and contribute to long-term stability and improved quality of life for communities in Kunar and Nangarhar

    Expected Outcomes:


    The project aims to improve food security among targeted households through a combination of tailored food assistance and cash transfers. Beneficiary households will experience increased ability to meet essential needs such as food and nutrition. Special focus will be placed on highly vulnerable groups, improving their financial stability and food security. Cash-based transfers will stimulate the local economy, benefiting vendors and farmers. The inclusion of BSFP (Blanket Supplementary Feeding Program) foods will play a crucial role in improving beneficiaries' nutrition and health, addressing malnutrition and enhancing overall well-being. These assistance efforts will enhance the beneficiaries' overall lifestyle, improving their quality of life. Community resilience will be strengthened through the establishment of savings groups and emergency plans, with an emphasis on improved nutrition and overall resilience. The project’s 12-month support will focus on long-term benefits, promoting sustainable practices and investments in local agricultural production.
