ARC-Initiative consist of core team that have decades of experience in Afghanistan in areas of climate change adaptation & mitigation, greenhouse gas emission mitigation measures, water conservation and management, forestry, renewable energy, and agriculture. The team is striving for excellence and promoting practices that mitigate the negative effects of climate change that protect the agriculture production, and enhance the afghan rural community’s resilience against climate induced shocks.
ARC-Initiative is leading a country wide climate change advocacy, awareness and campaign program that engage the last miles communities, academia including the youth and students for promoting the climate change adaptation and mitigation measures and practices, that conserve the communities resilience and enhance the adoptive capacity of the country.
ARC-Initiative is closely collaborating with institution and local communities for last mile solutions that timely informed communities on early weather/climatic warnings to trigger for early preventive and protective actions. ARC-INITIATIVE has the technical capability for piloting and testing community driven early warning systems for early warning information disseminations, and for this, we would need partner’s contributions and donor’s financial support.
Gender integration is the core of ARC-Initiative, and we strongly believe and work for the gender equality and equal opportunities for both women and men, this leads all ARC-INITIATIVE program based on gender consideration in afghan context. One of gender disparities that we are facing in Afghanistan is that, in rural areas, women and Childs has been used mostly for collecting the woods for household domestic fuel consumptions, alternative and renewable ways of energy can mostly resolve this issue for women, and instead of passing through this hardship, women can positively be engaged in other educational and income generation activity that provide them financial independence and more strength, also due, to lack of job and livelihood opportunities, communities cut the forests for their fuel consumptions, ARC-INITIATIVE work with those communities to come up with long lasting solutions to protect those forest that maintain their environment clean and resilient.
ARC-INITIATIVE is currently designing a climate change collaborative awareness and campaign program at educational institutions, including colleges and universities, this will promote positive energy among the youth to struggle with in their communities and cities for the environmental protection and climate change awareness promotion. .
